Our babies are born in our bedroom where they stay for a few weeks. This allows us to keep a close eye on mom and babies. They start to hear the sounds of a busy household and see the hustle bustle of a typical family.
As the kittens grow, they get to experience different rooms of our house such as the master bathroom, living room, and kitten room. Because tiny kittens are still learning to use their litterbox and are too tiny for free roaming, we have special kitten rooms set up. This ensures their safetly and happiness while socializing and growing.
While some breeders advertise that all of their breeding cats are "under-foot" all the time, we would never make such a claim. Not only does that increase the chances for illnesses being spread, but it does not provide fot the safety of the babies.
When we bring in a new cat, take one to a show, or one shows signs of any feelings of unwell, then our quarantine rooms are used. These are not frequently used but we can easily isolate if necessary to keep any disease out of our cattery and babies.
Any new cat that comes into our home is quarantined for a minimum of 2 weeks while our veterinarian checks for any signs of illness before they can join the rest of the family.
Our cattery also has a sperate kitchen and grooming area.
Nothing was spared for our special cats when we built the outdoor portion of our cattery. The nature of intact male and female cats is to mark their environment. This makes it difficult to keep indoor rooms completely sanitary for our family and babies. The outdoor runs are over 15 feet long and six feet tall. They are outfitted with heated houses, hand-crafted cat trees, hammocks, and plenty of toys.
This is not permant housing for our girls, only when they are in heat cycles. Our Bengal cats LOVE to spend time in the outdoor runs where they can play, watch wildlife, and breathe fresh air.
