All of our kittens are raised in our home and are born in our bedroom where we can keep a close eye on mom and the new babies. We take extra steps to ensure your kitten is extremely healthy, well socialized, and litter box trained before going to your new home. They are raised in home and thoroughly spoiled before going to their new homes! Our babies are ready for their new homes at 12 weeks of age. Our primary concern is the happiness of our kittens and we take extra steps to ensure the best fit possible between adopter and baby. Please keep in mind, we do NOT breed often!

Adoption Price

We price our kittens according to how closely they meet the breed standard. Pricing is in no way indicative of temperament! We do allow show quality kittens to go to pet homes and they are priced at the higher end of our pet range. Our pet kittens are generally priced between $800 and $1500, with the occasional lower priced kitten.

Why are Bahiya Bengal's adoption prices different than some other breeders?
Simply put, you get what you pay for. The utmost in quality, care, and health screenings we provide our Bengal comes at a high price. To purchase most show quailty breeding cats, prices can range from $2000 to $3500. Before we even breed a litter, we need to do health screenings on our breeding cats. HCM screens generally cost is $400 per cat each year, DNA PK-def health testing, then there are fecal tests, FeLK/FIV testing, vaccines, showing, veterinary care, proper housing, food, litter, toys, cat trees, disinfecting and cleaning supplies, office supplies, etc, . ALL before we even breed a litter. The expense just to properly manage a handful of show cats can be shockingly high. This does not even include all that is required to raise or babies before we let them go to their new homes!

Each kitten comes with:

  • Two year genetic and congenital health guarantee

  • Microchipped and registered with both Bahiya Bengals and the new owner's information.

  • Necessary vaccinations for proper protection.

  • Tested for parasites and are clean upon leaving.

  • Examined by a vet and cleared before leaving.

  • Raised only on high quality foods with the most balanced nutrition in mind.

  • TICA registration papers and born of TICA registered parents only.

  • Parents with HCM screenings by a board certified Cardiologist only.

  • Litter box trained and eating quality dry and wet food.

  • Raised with lots of love and socialization!

As you see it is very expensive to responsibly breed or show Bengals. We also, occasionally, have unforseen situations like Ceasarian Sections that may arise.

Adopting a Bahiya Bengal kitten does not end at the door. It is very important that we provide a lifetime support for our babies and new families. Again, we do not breed often. It is important new families become a part of ours!

"When choosing a Bengal or any pet, I cannot stress enough to pick your breeder first, then pick your kitten. Purchasing a kitten from someone just based on price, pictures and/or availability at that time can easliy turn into an unhappy event. As a breeder who does all this, I can tell you that for a 24/7 commitment, it is not for the money. It is for the passion of creating better Bengals." Paula Elson.

Socialization

Our babies are handled on a daily basis and socialized to ensure they are well rounded before going home. They not only are socialized to us and our visitors and friends, but to our dogs as well- a few large German Shepherds and a Border Collie.  Nails are clipped on a weekly basis and they are introduced to bathing before they go home to imprint these regular events into their lives.  We also play various music including a CD compiled by the Guide Dogs for the Blind organization that is used to imprint their young pups to loud and random noises.  This is as vital to a confident kitten as it is to a puppy and we find it helps our babies to be even more confident even when they go through their "fear" period of development. Kittens go home no earlier than 12 weeks of age as it is a vital time for socialization and training with their mother and litter mates. Kittens taken too early often develop behavioral and litter box issues later on.
